You have to reconstruct the bits, ie, transform 8 bytes from the byte array into a 64-bit long value using bitwise operations, etc. The caveat is that an ActionScript Number datatype only holds 52 bits (12 bits are for decimal value), so you can&#039;t get all 64 bits reconstructed.

In the end, I send long values as strings. Not that many extra bytes and allows the full 64 bits to be used.
